After registration, you will receive an email with general information. All you have to do is show up for the desired class at the start of the semester, or any time during the semester. We have room for everyone.
The classes start around January 20th and August 20 (check the website news). You can come and try on that day, or whenever you want afterwards.

Lunds Karateklubb på utbildning i Hållbar Utveckling

Nyligen deltog Lunds Karateklubb i en mycket intressant och inspirerande utbildning i hållbar utveckling. Träffen arrangerades av Sparbanken Skånes Ägarstiftelse Finn i deras lokaler i Lund.
Utbildningen är en del i stiftelsens arbete för att bidra till en positiv samhällsutveckling. Som ett led i att vår förening har beviljats projektbidrag, fick vi möjligheten att fördjupa oss i FN:s globala hållbarhetsmål, Agenda 2030.

Varför är detta viktigt för oss?
Föreningar och organisationer är en viktig kraft i arbetet med att skapa ett väl fungerande och hållbart samhälle. Genom utbildningen har vi fått kunskap om hur vi kan bidra till trygghet, delaktighet och gemenskap – områden som är centrala för en hållbar utveckling.
Det var en kväll fylld av givande diskussioner. Vi ser nu fram emot att fortsätta utveckla klubben som en verksamhet som bidrar positivt till samhället.

No, you don't need to register in advance - you can just come and try it out!  There is room for everyone!

What is the language of instruction?

We instruct in Swedish, but use Japanese terminology, which all traditional karate schools do. All our instructors speak English as well and we have students from the entire world.

I / my child is on the age limit for a training group (e.g. 12 years old and turning 13 soon).
In which group should you start?

Accepted Answer

It's fine to try out a class. You can start in the lower group and then move up, or start in the upper group, and then move down if it becomes too much at once. You can move freely between groups.

Give your child meaningful free time
With the "Fritidskortet" you can pay for many of your children's regular leisure activities in sports, culture and outdoor activities.

Children between the ages of 8 and 16 receive 500 SEK per year.

Children in households that received housing benefit last year can receive SEK 2,000.

The purpose of the "Fritidskortet" is to ensure that more children and young people have the opportunity for active and meaningful leisure time – regardless of the family's financial situation.

The times for beginners/advanced/other are e.g. 16-17 Mondays and Wednesdays, which is not possible for me as I work/study/travel etc. Is there a possibility that we can join another session that has other times?

You can take part in any sessions you want throughout the week, up to the degree you are graded. As a beginner, there are several sessions a week you can join.

Training is for graded youth and adults from 13 years and up NOTE! During the month of June there is training also on Mondays

Membership fee: 100 SEK per member per year

Training fees:
400 SEK/semester for people with disabilities/Tuesday sessions 
400 SEK/semester for seniors
550 SEK/semester for 7 - 12 years old 
550 SEK/semester for 13 - 18 years old or students
350 SEK/semester for "parent training" (parents who only train sessions with their child/youth
SEK 950/semester for others

How long are you a child?

In the children's group, people train between the ages of 7 and 12. In the youth group, people between the ages of 13 and 17 are welcome. In the adult groups, everyone trains from the age of 13 and up. Parents of children and young people are warmly welcome to train at their children's training sessions!

Question 19

How often should I / can I / can my child exercise a week?

You train as often or as little as you want. At least 2 times/week is common. The more the better! Six days a week training is held in our own dojo, Skiffervägen 102.

Question 20

My child will soon be 5/6/7 years old - is it okay to try training anyway?

Accepted Answer

Children normally start at the age of 7, but anyone who wants to can try! If the children are mature enough to join in the training, and think it's fun, they are welcome! It usually resolves itself.

Question 21

Do parents have to exercise with the kids?

Accepted Answer

No, it's completely voluntary and just another way to practice! But the parents who exercise with their children express that they think it's great fun, and the children think it's fun too. You can always try!

What do you wear when you exercise?

Before you have bought a suit, and while you are trying it on, you train in normal training clothes - for example sweatpants and a T-shirt. You practice karate barefoot!

Where do I buy a suit?

Accepted Answer

You can buy clothing through the club. Talk to your trainer who will help you! You place an order and pay in advance, then the suit arrives after about 1 week. We have many different costumes at varying prices, for both children and adults.

I come from a different style of Karate, or another Shotokan association. Can I train with you? Can I keep my belt?"

Everyone is welcome to train with us! We respect all styles and you get to keep your belt. If you want to graduate within JKA, your previous knowledge/style/association will be assessed individually by the head coach.

Question 25

I have trained karate earlier in life, maybe graded and had an advanced belt, but forgot a lot, which group should I start in?

You can start in any group you want (to which you are graded). You are allowed to try your hand at it. It can e.g. be a good idea to train in a group with beginners a couple of times and then move up when you get started. You can move freely between groups.

What are the requirements for grading?

Karate is a way of life where in your karate training you strive to develop your character by seeking perfection in the techniques. You do not need to grade, but can train at your own pace and for your own development.If you want to grade from 2 kyu and above, you must tell your coach or email kingen50@gmail.com within 2 weeks at the beginning of the semester.Also remember that grading booklets are available for purchase

How does LUKK handle / process personal data?

Within Lund's Karate Club, we process a large amount of personal data. They are used, among other things, to keep member registers in order, distribute financial support or arrange competitions and training.
There are special rules for how personal data must be handled in a safe and secure manner. On 25 May 2018, the Personal Data Act will be replaced by the new Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which means that the requirements will change slightly. Due to these changes, we have supplemented the membership terms and conditions with a privacy policy. It describes in more detail how and why we save your personal data and which rights you have.

21) Can I train in more sessions a week - even if I only signed up for, say, Saturday?

Yes! As a member of Lunds Karateklubb you can train in any class that suits your level. Ask a trainer if you have any questions!
